3 Common Misconceptions About Scratch And Dent Appliances

Posted on: 19 July 2021

One way to save money on needed household appliances is to purchase scratch and dent appliances. Many retailers sell these appliances that have cosmetic imperfections for much less than they sell their counterparts that are in perfect condition. Unfortunately, many people have heard misconceptions about scratch and dent products that prevent them from considering the purchase of this appliance type.

Read on to learn the facts behind three common scratch and dent appliance misconceptions.

1. Appliance Damage Is Always Highly Visible

Of course, an appliance is not sold as a scratch and dent appliance at a great discount if it does not at least have some type of mild cosmetic imperfection. However, some scratch and dent products have mild cosmetic damage that is not easily visible. Alternatively, the more server damage could also be hidden easily once you take the appliance home. For example, you may find that the dent on the side of a scratch and dent washing machine is completely hidden by the clothes dryer that lies next to it after you install it in your laundry room.

2. Appliance Dents and Scratches Are Irreparable

Many people believe that scratch and dent appliance damage must be irreparable or the retailer selling the product would have repaired it. However, generally, the companies selling these products often simply do not want to spend time repairing them, although you can often repair them at home.

Fortunately, there are many ways to remove dents from the surface of a stainless steel refrigerator. One way to remove a small dent in a metal surface is to carefully place a chunk of dry ice on it for a short period of time; as the cold temperature causes the metal to contract, the dent will often simply pop out. Devices that remove dents from metal are also available in many automotive stores.

In addition, commercial scratch remover products that help remove scratches from a variety of appliance surface types are also available, and some appliance scratches can be hidden and covered with DIY remedies.

3. These Appliances Never Come With Warranties

Many people do not want to purchase appliances that do not come with warranties and never consider purchasing scratch and dent appliances for this reason. However, while some scratch and dent products are sold "as-is" with no warranty, others do come with manufacturer warranties or warranties that third-party sellers provide. While these warranties can vary greatly, some are the exact same warranty that the manufacturer provides other customers who purchase the same product in brand-new condition.

If you need a new household appliance and are on a tight budget, then visit a scratch and dent appliance retailer. They can provide more information regarding scratch and dent products
